Rockstars Second Graders

We completed our 1st quarter of 2nd grade!  Time is going fast!  Today a conference report is coming home to show your child's progress.  This quarter our class has been busy reading and taking Accelerated Reading quizzes.  We passed 332 AR quizzes and read 587,961 for the first quarter.  We also earned 20 Rocket bucks and had a popcorn and movie party. I am so proud of the class. They work very nicely together. In Fundations we are working with adding suffixes to words.  The children are doing a great job adding the correct suffix to the words and following the correct rules.  Thank you for practicing the spelling and trick words each week.  I am proud of how well the children are doing applying their spelling rules to the words! We have been reading about families and how they work together.  The students created a poster of what job they want to be when they grow up. They were very creative.  The students have done a great job with applying their reading and writing skills to their work. In Fundations, we worked on glued sounds and glued sounds exceptions.  Ask your child what makes certain words have glued sound exceptions.  The children are doing a great job applying their skills to their work! We worked in our special memory book that we will be adding to throughout the school year.  This special book will come home at the end of the school year.
