Happy November !

Thank you for a fun Halloween party and parade!  We had a great time despite the weather!

We enjoyed the story Stellaluna and learned about how bats and birds are very different. We had creating bats.  We enjoyed learning about our body's bones and creating a skeleton.  We had fun doing many Halloween activities.

Thank you for getting the Flat Stanley envelope ready to be mailed.  We created our Flat Stanley and wrote our letter to our friend or family member.  Today we mailed our Flat Stanley letter at the post office.   If the Flat Stanley letter is returned to your address, please do not open it and send it in to school with your child.  It is fun for your child to open the letter at school.   The letter I sent with the Flat Stanley does tell the recipient to return the letter and Flat Stanley to Normandy Elementary School. I included Normandy's address in the letter.  It will be exciting to see where Flat Stanley has traveled!  The children are so excited!

We enjoyed meeting our 6th grade pen pals.  We had a great time making a catapult and practicing launching a marshmallow.  The kids had a great time!

Please continue to have your child read to you.  You can read to your child higher level books to help build vocabulary, comprehension and listening skills.   October reading logs are due.  I will be sending home the November reading log on Monday.  Thank you for your continued support at home.

In Fundations we are working with suffixes and spelling two syllable words. We created suffixes spiders.   The students are doing a great job using their strategies to spell words.

The students have done a great job applying all their math addition and subtraction strategies.  They are doing great with solving math word problems and applying their math strategies.

We created stars to honor the veterans for Veteran's day.  We are looking forward to the Veteran's Day assembly.  From our class, we will have 9 family members that are veterans at the assembly!

We have been busy making cards for the Bay High sport teams.  The high school students love getting "fan" mail from the students.  The boys' cross country team are running in the State cross country meet on Saturday. We had fun doing a clap out for the team.  The boys' football team play in the last regular season game tonight!   It is an exciting time to be a Rocket!

Next week will be doing Cog-At standardized tests on November 4, 6, 7.  Attendance is important, We will not have Fundation homework next week or a Spelling test on Friday.  I will send math review homework home next week and a DWP.  Thank you for your support at home.
