Happy Homecoming weekend!

We are enjoying many stories in the class and working well in pairs and in small groups.  Ask your how a pet can be an important friend and how do we care for animals?  The children are doing a great job with reading and writing. The children wrote what pet they would pick and created a poster.  I am impressed with how focused they are while working!   The children are doing a great job visualizing, using evidence from the text, and responding in writing about what they have read. We enjoyed the stories  Finding Cal, Not Norman: a Goldfish Story, Taking Care of Pepper,   and  Lola and Tiva: An Unlikely Friendship .  Ask your child what each story was about and what story was fiction or non-fiction. We are getting into a Routine!

We are getting into our 2nd grade routine.  The students are doing a great job working together as a class. The monthly reading log is due Friday, September 27.  I will choose a few titles from the list for your child to take an Accelerated Reading quiz.  If your child has finished a book before Sept. 27,  he or she may take an AR quiz.  Please make sure your child is reading a book at the correct reading level.   Please use the AR website to find books at your child reading level range.  www.arbookfind.com We have been enjoying reading stories in our Wonders reading series.  We have enjoyed reading about friends and families.  The children are doing a great job visualizing, using evidence from the text, and responding in writing about what they have read.
